Movie Review - Three On A Match
Three On A Match (1932)
directed by Mervyn LeRoy
rating: 4 out of 5 cravats
on VHS from As Seen On TV
For an hour and change, you get Bette Davis' youthful shimmy, two decades' worth of Roaring Twenties, and Humphrey Bogart grinning loopy at a coke-addled mom. Add to that the cynicism and slapstick pace of pre-code Depression-era melodrama - plus that crazy Goldberg kid - and you get it all.
