I think Tommy Lee Jones's Axeman actually (axe-ually) imparts some balance to the backstage clutter, hammy acting, and rheumy tunes of this odd, nostalgic antique. Its saving grace is Keillor thinking laughter is a human quality, unknown to angels. A good guy, GK, but no Fitzgerald.
